Under~Gardeners

Let's hear it for the Under~Gardeners!
Bless their hearts.
They help us dig those big holes in our garden
so we can make a bog pond
or plant a tree.
Sometimes they'll move a heavy rock
or help us build a potting bench.
They break for yard-sales
so we can search for garden-art.
They scavenge the beach with us
and bring home arm loads of driftwood.
Oh yes,
they may grumble
when we insist on buying
more and more perennials
but
they beam with pride
when our friends
come to visit the lovely garden
we are creating
with love.

Dear Becky,
If it was not for my husband I too would not have garden ponds and wind harps! He does the digging for almost all my plants. I do the seeds and planting and harvesting.
If a new growing area is needed he does the dirt work!
Our helpmates are glorious beings.
Yours is very kind and very helpful.
Hugs,
Sherry

Hello Primrozie, Yes, this is a photo of when we put the bog pond in my garden.
After I put water plants in (that came from a Koi Pond) I discovered that I had baby fish.
So then the bog had to be turned into a pond with a filter and pump.
My fishies are now about 7 inches long and growing!

Dear Q,
What are "wind harps?" Sounds like a wonderful name for wind-chimes. I'll go over to your blog site and search for them.
(((hugs)))

RYC: I knew you had a pond, but didn't make the connection! Our pond is my favorite place to be. We have goldfish and frogs.

Don't know what I'd do without my undergardener. He doesn't know squat about gardens, but he certainly appreciates the beauty!

Ah, there you are! I've been really missing you and your blog, Becky!

This "new" blog address is in fact the old one you used last year, isn't it? Anywhere, I am looking forward to looking at your garden pics and learning more about your garden adventures!

Best wishes from Germany,
Anita

Not sure how I ended up here on your blog, but I'm glad I did. I loved your post about 'under-gardeners. My DH has worked so hard and spent lots of $$$ to make my all my garden visions come true....and he does love to show off the results :-)

Becky, thank you so much for visiting my garden in Colorado. You certainly do have a serene location there in your (I can't even imagine) Zone 17 garden. Your writing is beautiful.

Hi Becky - thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! I just took a quick tour through yours and found lots of fun stuff - I'll be checking in again, for sure!

My husband rototills new garden spaces for me - bless his heart! And he's pretty good at finding stuff at estate and garage sales too. I love it.

I couldn't agree with your more, Becky. My hubbie does all the heavy lifting for me, laying paving and trundling heavy loads in the wheelbarrow. so although I am the only one who gardens and my hubbie hates gardeneing, I couldn't manage Barleycorn without him :)

I love them - mine mows the lawn for me, since I am now 31 and have never learned how.
